In Search of Sounds for a New Home

Living around wood has made me think about a home not only in terms of materials and light, but also sound. From jazz and game music to modern folk arrangements and layered recorders, different music changes the character of a room. A home gradually becomes personal through all of these small sensory layers, including the occasional choice to play nothing at all.

Of Drums, Flutes, and Echoes in Wood

Taiko drums and wooden recorders taught me that different woods carry different voices. Looking back, that feels surprisingly close to choosing materials for a home: there is no single correct wood, only the one that fits the sound or atmosphere you want. Perhaps my relationship with wooden instruments was an early lesson in what it means to live with wood.
