Retail AI

Making an AI company actually look like one.

Background

Retail AI develops technology that combines artificial intelligence and retail in Japan and China.

Following a corporate and visual identity refresh, the company needed its website to catch up.

Challenge

The existing site was dated both visually and technically. It did not communicate the company’s position at the intersection of retail and AI particularly well, and the company had limited internal creative and web-design capabilities.

The new site also needed to support recruitment, work with the refreshed identity and perform considerably better technically.

What I did

I helped lead the website renewal across UX/UI, visual and technical direction.

The interface was redesigned around a clearer explanation of Retail AI’s proposition. I directed new photography and retouching, introduced motion to make the interaction between retail and technology feel more tangible, and worked directly with Retail AI’s engineers to optimise assets and implementation.

Performance was not treated as somebody else’s technical problem. It was part of the experience.

Outcome

The redesigned site launched alongside the refreshed brand and was positively received by both the CEO and engineering team.

The result was a faster, more coherent digital presence that better reflected the company Retail AI had become rather than the website it had inherited.
